NTV’s train will be called .Italo

THE NAME WAS SELECTED ON THE NTV BLOG

The name was chosen together with the passengers, through a survey launched by NTV on internet, after more than 37 thousand votes were received. Four names were selected from among all those suggested: Velox, Italo, Saetta and Mercurio, and the voting was held from November 10th to the 16th. The name with the most votes was Italo, and so it officially becomes the name of NTV’s train. NTV put the “dot” in front of ITALO in order to combine the name’s Italian heritage with the concept of Internet and web technology, which will be key features of the train, and of all other NTV services. And so the train will be called .ITALO, a name that will be given a full graphic treatment and presented by NTV in the near future. .ITALO will go into operation on the Italian high-speed line in 2011, with the goal of carrying 10 million passengers annually by the year 2015. Meanwhile, NTV will continue to use its blog to dialogue with travellers and receive ideas and suggestions.
