Also in 2023 Italo confirmed considerable achievements on the Rail Sustainability Index (RSI), a tool, launched in 2022 by the UIC (the World Association of Railways), which measures the sustainability performance of rail transport using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework. The CSR consists of a series of KPIs that provide members with a unique rating to track progress in support of 7 SDGs. Italo is a member of the UIC and not only participated in the project by scoring well overall and in the sub-areas, but is also part of the core group of members discussing ways to improve the rating tool.
